Installation and basic settings

MS Teams can be used via web interface or as an application on Windows, Mac OS. Web interface requires Chrome or Edge browser. On Linux it is possible to use application, or web interfaceChrome/Chromium with customized settings or a version using Electron. On mobile devices (iOS and Android), use the mobile app.

Installing MS Teams on a computer

  • Computer managed by the IT department: ask IT support to install it
  • Windows: MS Teams may already be installed as part of your MS Office installation.
    If not, you can download the installation file. Run the downloaded file and confirm the installation.
  • Mac OS: MS Teams may already be installed as part of your MS Office installation.
    If not, you can download the installation file. Run the downloaded file and confirm the installation.
  • Linux: it is possible download the installation file.

Install MS Teams on tablets and mobile devices

Go to Play Store (Android) (Instructions) or App Store (iOS) and install MS Teams just like any other app.

Login

If you are signed in to Office with your Office 365 account, Teams can sign in automatically. If it does not, you will be prompted to log in. Enter your Office 365 login credentials – učo@post.jamu.cz, a login window will appear where you will enter your USER and secondary password, if you have an O365 account of the form prijmeni@jamu.cz, then the login is prijmeni@jamu.cz and the password is the one you use to log into JAMU mail.

Important

You must be logged in with your JAMU account, not your personal account.

How do I know I am logged in with my JAMU account?

  • Click on the user icon in the top right corner with your mouse to display the currently logged in user.
  • try for example in MS Teams at the top in the “Search” field to search using the surname of a teacher or student of JAMU, if you start to get search results, you are logged in with the correct account.

Basic settings

You can access the settings by clicking on the circle with the photo or initials in the upper right corner of Teams and selecting “Settings”.

The default view of teams is “grid”. It is preferable to use the “list” layout.

Leave the “Automatically start the application” and “Keep the application running when closed” checkboxes checked. Check “Register the Teams app as a chat app for Office” and “Enable new meeting environment”.

MS Teams minimization and display size

You can shrink the MS Teams window to save screen space.

You can also set the size of the content you want to display.
