How to set up the camera, microphone and speakers?

You can access the settings by clicking on the circle with your photo or initials in the upper right corner of MS Teams and selecting Settings.

Go to the device.

If you have a desktop computer, you need to buy an external camera, connect it via USB connector and install the control software if necessary. If you have a laptop, the camera is part of the laptop and should be fully functional.

You don’t need to set up anything to use the camera, only if you have multiple cameras connected, you need to select which one to use.

Desktop equipment
You will need a headset with a microphone for voice communication. They can be connected via two separate connectors (standard 3.5mm three-pin connectors), a USB connector or via Bluetooth.

If you have a headset with a microphone with one connector (e.g. from your mobile phone), you can buy a reducer for it.

Headphones with a USB connector or Bluetooth headphones are preferable, as they allow a separate connection to the speakers, through which you can set the ringtone when a call comes in.
Wireless headphones on most desktops require the purchase of a Bluetooth adapter!

Laptop equipment
Laptops have built-in speakers and a microphone that can also be used for voice calls. However, if you share an office with colleagues and don’t want to disturb them, or if you don’t have enough silence in the office, a headset with a microphone is preferable, just like a desktop computer.

Again, we recommend using a USB or Bluetooth headset as it is possible to direct the ringtone to the speakers when a call comes in.

If you decide to buy headphones with audio connectors, you need to check whether the laptop has two sockets (one for headphones, one for microphone) or one common one – depending on this, you need to buy headphones with two three-pole or one four-pole connector, or buy a reducer for the headphones you already have.

5
If you have multiple audio devices (e.g. when using a USB headset), you can select which one is used for the voice call.

6
If you have a headset connected and want to use it for a call, but want to hear the incoming ringtone from the speakers, you can set Secondary ringtone on the speakers.
