The Higher Education Act obliges JAMU to make appropriate arrangements for the study of student-parents.
“Recognised Parental Leave” (UDR) means the period of time during which a student would have taken maternity (MD) or parental leave (PPL) under the Labour Code.
UDR enables students to better balance childcare with their studies and ensures their rights in terms of study obligations, fees and study records.
Prepare your documents
- a maternity card with the expected date of delivery, or
- the child’s birth certificate / decision to take custody of the child.
Complete the UDR application form
The form is available from the Student Services Office or downloadable below.
Submit your application to the Office of Student Affairs
at the faculty where you are enrolled to study.
If you are studying multiple programs at different faculties, notify the UDR at each faculty.
The Study Department will make a registration in the JAMU IS
The UDR is kept in the information system from the date of its commencement and is deducted from the total study period.
Deduction from the total period of study – UDR does not count towards the maximum period of study or interruption.
The possibility of extending deadlines for fulfilling obligations – e.g. exams or advancement to the next year.
Interruption of studies without penalty – studies can be interrupted throughout the parenting period, even repeatedly.
Returning to study earlier – the student may enrol back in studies before the original period of interruption has elapsed.
No fees for longer studies – UDR is deducted when calculating fees.
You cannot apply for UDR retrospectively if your maternity or parental leave has already expired.
Any changes (e.g. termination of childcare) must be reported immediately and supported by copies of documents.
Intentionally providing false information is considered a disciplinary offence.
When requesting the registration of UDR in IS JAMU, please submit:
- a copy of the pregnancy card with the date of delivery(complete with birth certificate within 30 days of delivery), or
- a copy of the child’s birth certificate, or
- A copy of the decision to take custody of the child.
JAMU may require the originals to be submitted for verification.
For matters related to the recognised period of parenthood, please contact the study department of your faculty.
Contacts can be found in the information section of the faculty website or at: jamu.cz/contacts.
UDR = maternity + parenting time.
Provides protection for students in relation to parenthood.
It is counted from the beginning of pregnancy (at the earliest 8 weeks before delivery) until the child is 3 years old.
Allows for extensions, interruptions and deductions from the total study period.
You apply for registration at the study department with the necessary documents.
