The Course Catalog can set various restrictions and conditions for enrollment in a course. If the student complies with them, he/she registers without problems (white), if not, he/she registers with problems (red). The following problems occur:
- exceeded course capacity,
- unmet prerequisites,
- The course is written for other majors and is not offered to the student’s major.
For an overview of your students’ problem registrations, see

Grant of exemption from enrolment:
During the course enrollment period (not during the course registration period), students can click to request an exception, i.e. explicit permission to enter the course, from the teacher for problem courses (courses registered in red). The application prompts the student to send an email explaining why they should be admitted to the course even if they do not meet the requirements. The email is sent to the instructor, the course sponsor, or the contact person, depending on who is set to be responsible for handling exceptions in the course master data. The justification is also displayed directly in the application for each request. Exceptions can be granted or denied in
Teacher Registration Information System: granting exemptions
The student can withdraw the pending application again – the application will send an email to the teachers. Granting an exception changes the registration to seamless (the conditions of registration are not further examined).

1 Not yet decided.
2 Text stating the reason for the request.
3 Save the request.
The special pre-requisite “consent” can be used to enforce the granting of exceptions. Registration for a course with this prerequisite is always problematic (red) and students must apply for an exemption.
In some cases, a request for an exemption cannot be made because the teacher is not allowed to grant it. For example, if a student has already successfully completed a course at JAMU, he/she cannot re-enroll in it (except for courses where this is explicitly allowed in the Course Catalog, e.g., PE courses). Only the academic department can enroll a student in such a course.
If you want to take the exemption back:
In the app
Teacher [subject selection] (Students) registration: granting exceptions
tick the “show pending requests” box and click “apply”. You will see a list of students who have applied for an exemption. For students who have had an exception denied, check the “cancel previously granted denial” box and save. You can now re-grant approval to register for the course.

1 box to cancel the rejection.
